Chemring Countermeasures, is a world leader in missile countermeasures solutions. Chemring Countermeasures designs, manufactures and distributes world wide a comprehensive range of RF and IR decoy cartridges for airborne, naval and land applications across the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

Chemring Countermeasures has two manufacturing sites in the South of England. The main site located at High Post near Salisbury houses the extensive IR decoy manufacturing facility and the Technology Centre. RF decoy manufacturing is carried out at the site located at Portsmouth.

Chemring Countermeasures is fully committed to working in partnership with its customers to assist in the definition of their requirements, through product development, manufacture and through life support. They aim to provide total support throughout the life cycle of our products. The nature of Chemring's business means that we have developed an extensive set of environmental test facilities that are licensed to evaluate test items incorporating energetic materials. Chemring have an ongoing programme of investment in new climatic and dynamic test facilities.

To ensure the on-going improvement of our product range, Chemring Countermeasures continually invests in research and design technology with the highly skilled people to develop it. The Technology Centre works in association with our USA based sister companies; Kilgore Flares and Alloy Surfaces, to specialise in expendable countermeasures design, computer modelling, explosives technology, pyrotechnics, prototype engineering and testing.

Chemring Countermeasure’s belief and philosophy is that:

"The effective platform countermeasure is achieved only when platform tactics are fully integrated with Electronic Warfare principles and the countermeasure can only be effective when components have been optimised to the platform”.

  Cranfield University, Royal Military College of Science at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.

The Royal Military College of Science traces its origins back to 1772. The college moved to its present site in 1946 and the Royal Charter was granted in 1953. In 1984 the MOD awarded a contract to Cranfield University for the provision of academic teaching, support and research. Today this unique faculty undertakes the education of armed forces, civil servants and industry personnel from all over the world.

Cranfield University (RMCS) is the only place where experts from Academia and Officers of the British Armed Forces meet to research and teach Defence Management, Science and Technology. The capability in the field of Defence Management and Technology is unrivalled in terms of the knowledge and expertise which sits under one roof at Shrivenham.

Cranfield University are a cutting edge research establishment with facilities to enable specialised and generic research to be carried out on the latest technology and equipment. They undertake diverse research projects and carry out consultancy and testing for many organisations.

Cranfield University run many courses at postgraduate level and other short courses. Courses can be residential, modular, and/or blended learning, in the UK or overseas, on campus or on-site for industry, in hundreds of defence related subjects. They also run a series of International Symposia with key speakers from the Defence Arena. Cranfield University [RMCS] became part of the newly formed Defence Academy of The United Kingdom on 1st April 2002.

The aim of the academy is to be the:

"National and international centre of excellence, providing military and civilian personnel with high quality training and education, primarily at postgraduate level, and conducting research in fields related to defence."

  Cranfield University Ordnance Test and Evaluation Centre - COTEC

COTEC is part of Cranfield University’s Department of Environment and Ordnance Systems. The department is engaged in the study and practice of the principles and applications of chemistry, physics and ballistics to the solution of both military and environmental problems.

COTEC has extensive range facilities and is accredited to EN ISO 9002 to carry out demilitarisation and to test and evaluate munitions, weapon systems, pyrotechnic and explosive stores.

The range employs experienced ammunition technical officers and trial conducting officers to conduct the firing, incineration, open burning and detonation of a wide range of surplus pyrotechnics, explosives and conventional munitions.
